Trusted by London businesses and landlords
A cross-section of the offices, HMOs, restaurants, care homes and blocks we look after across London.
The old panel kept throwing faults and our previous company never turned up. Flame Shield took the system over, cleared the faults in one visit, and now we get a proper certificate after every service.
They installed a fire alarm and emergency lighting across a three-storey office on a tight deadline. Clean job, tidy cabling, and they explained the BS 5839 side in plain English.
As a landlord with two HMOs I just want it compliant and documented. Their engineer talked me through exactly what the regs need and emailed the certificates the same week.
Called about the alarm going off at night. Instead of a paid call-out they walked me through a reset on the phone, then came out and fixed the actual fault. Honest people.
Our fire risk assessment flagged a few issues and they fixed the lot, doors, signage and extinguishers, without me chasing three different contractors.
Quoted fairly, turned up when they said they would, and the paperwork was ready for our insurer straight away. Would recommend to any London business.
They took over servicing for our block of flats after the managing agent changed. No gap in cover and the reports are actually readable now.
Professional from the survey to the final certificate. No upselling, they just told us what the building actually needed and did it.
Six-monthly servicing is done without me chasing anyone, and I get a certificate after every visit. Exactly what I wanted from a fire alarm company.
Their team demonstrates in-depth knowledge, patience, and professionalism. They designed a fire protection system tailored to our needs.
A very professional company for fire alarm installations. Their rapid response times, excellent communication, and competitive rates make them reliable.
Flame Shield London saved us when we needed urgent fire alarm maintenance. The team is highly knowledgeable, efficient, honest, and professional.
Quick response regarding fire safety concerns. I appreciated their honesty, guiding me through a simple fix over the phone rather than charging unnecessarily.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 every building needs a Responsible Person who makes sure a fire risk assessment is done and fire precautions are maintained. You do not have to become the expert. You need a competent partner and the paperwork to prove it.
Fire safety questions London businesses ask us
Who is responsible for fire safety in a commercial building?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the "Responsible Person", usually the employer, owner, landlord or managing agent, must ensure a suitable fire risk assessment is carried out and that fire precautions, including any fire alarm system, are properly maintained. We help Responsible Persons meet those duties with assessments, installation, servicing and certification.
How often should a commercial fire alarm be serviced?
BS 5839-1, the British Standard for commercial fire alarm systems, recommends inspection and servicing by a competent person at least every six months. We recommend six-monthly maintenance visits alongside an annual fire risk assessment review, and we issue a certificate after every service.
How long is a fire alarm certificate valid for?
A fire alarm certificate records the condition of the system at the time of the service, so there is no fixed expiry date. BS 5839-1 recommends servicing at least every six months, and we issue a fresh certificate after every visit. Insurers and inspectors usually want to see a current certificate dated within the last six months.
Can you take over a fire alarm system installed by another company?
Yes, takeover and maintenance of existing systems is one of our core services, and the initial takeover audit is free. We inspect the system, report on its condition and compliance, and move it onto a maintenance schedule. You do not need to stay with the company that installed your system.
Are you accredited?
Yes. Flame Shield London is BAFE registered (registration 303184) and an approved Fike and C-TEC installer. Our technicians are fully qualified and BAFE certified. We are the fire safety division of Electro Heating Limited (company no. 12609754), an established London engineering company.
How much does a fire alarm system cost in London?
It depends on the size of the property, the number of devices and whether the system is addressable or conventional, which is why we survey before quoting. The survey and the quote are both free, with no obligation. We explain the price before any work starts.
