Detector choice in industrial buildings is an engineering decision, not a catalogue decision.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Responsible Person for the building (usually the employer, owner, landlord or managing agent) has to make sure a fire risk assessment is carried out and the fire precautions are kept working. Getting the design wrong is not just a technical problem, it is that duty left unmet.
